UDLA were part of a multidisciplinary team engaged by LandCorp on behalf of the Shire of East Pilbara to design the Newman Town Centre.
The three stage design process commenced with a master plan, which visualised the ‘big picture’ plan for Newman’s future.
The Place Management Plan (PMP) then refined the urban design and activation, program and management of the town centre, addressing the mechanics of how the town works, whilst consolidating community and stakeholder feedback to form a cohesive ‘idea’.
The recent construction of the Newman Town Square provided a final built outcome that engaged stakeholders, council, community, traditional owners and traditional custodians in a participatory design process to achieve a collective vision.
