The Rocks Laneway recognised in Australia’s international Good Design Awards

The winners of Australia’s peak international design awards were announced today during the 2021 Good Design Awards Week. The Good Design Awards reward projects across 12 design disciplines and 30 subcategories.

The Rocks Laneway received a prestigious Good Design Award Winner Accolade in the Architectural Design category in recognition for outstanding design and innovation.

As lead consultant, UDLA delivered this project for the City of Greater Geraldton alongside TRCB, artist Trevor Richards, ETC Engineering, Arup and Geraldton Building Services & Cabinets.

Of the project, the Good Design Awards jury commented: “The Rocks Laneway is a fantastic example of a well designed urban revitalisation project that does not cost the earth. This is a smart project that incorporates all the elements as a connected story of discovery that will act as a catalyst for the revitalisation of the wider city. This is what urban design, tactical urbanism, place activation and place programming is all about. This project should serve as an example to other regional councils with similar streets/areas such as this. A great example of rethinking an urban area and knitting together old spaces with a fresh perspective - the project clearly makes a significant positive impact. Well done.”

Congratulations to our client and collaborators, and to all community members who continue to make The Rocks Laneway an excellent place to be.
